Donate here: https://www.howler.co.za/shimzarobben…​ NELSON MANDELA Nelson Mandela is the former president of South Africa, who before becoming leader spent 27 years in prison for fighting Apartheid – the system that discriminated between white and black citizens.  Mandela served 17 years of his sentence on Robben Island – the former prison facility and location of this historic stream – which is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. After his release in 1990, Mandela went on to be elected President of South Africa and proceeded to unite and help heal the nation.
